Did you know you could make your own sunscreen with organic ingredients? You can!
My son is allergic to regular sunscreens, and its no wonder with all the
gunk in them. Did you know that most sunscreens interrupt the endocrine system?
And we put this stuff on our kids to protect them. Meh.
So I found a solution that works for us. Maybe it will work for you, too.
First take a look at the graphic and see all the natural
ways that you can use natural products and let your imagination soar a bit.
HOMEMADE SUNSCREEN RECIPE:
- 1/2 cup of almond oil (Natural SPF)
- 1/4 cup of coconut oil (Natural SPF)
- 1 tsp of red rasp oil (Natural SPF)
- 1 tsp of carrot oil (Natural SPF)
- 10-20 drops of lavender essential oil
- 1/4 or less of beeswax (Natural SPF--- Amount depending how hard you like it... think salve texture.)
Directions
1. Combine all the ingredients in a jar (minus the essential
oil).
2. Place in a half filled pot of water and put on low heat, creating a double boiler to gently heat your oils and beeswax together.
3. Stir as it starts to melt, incorporating all the ingredients together.
4. After it is melted, add your essential oils and stir.
5. Let cool and use throughout the summer.

*Remember that sun exposure is good for you, but in limited amounts. Burning the skin is damaging and can cause skin cancer. So be prepared out there!
Enjoy!
